Here are a few questions and answers about Sedation Dentistry:

Will I feel any pain? - Most patients feel no discomfort whatsoever during their treatment and feel surprisingly good afterwards. Many patients have commented that they never felt anything.

Will I be totally relaxed? - You'll receive just enough sedation so that you'll be completely unaware of the treatment, as you would if you were asleep, but you will be able to respond to our questions or "open" and "bite" when needed.

Will I remember anything? - At the end of the treatment, you'll have little or no memory of your dental visit.

Will I be groggy after my treatment is over? - You will feel just fine, but yes you will probably be sleepy. We recommend that everyone goes home and takes a nap.

Will I be able to drive home? - No, for your safety, we do require that you have a family member or friend drive you both to and from your appointment.

Will my insurance cover treatment? - We'll review your insurance coverage and, if necessary, help you make financial arrangements to insure you get the dental care you need. But in general most insurance will not cover the sedation fee.

What is the fee for Sedation? - The fee is $250 for sedation and we like to do as much dentistry in one appointment as is possible, but we only charge you for Sedation Dentistry once. If your treatment takes two to three appointments, you only pay $250 one time.

Is Sedation Dentistry safe for me? - Before starting any treatment, we review your medical history, and we monitor you and your vital signs very closely while you're under sedation.

What drugs do you use for Sedation? - You may be given 1 or 2 tablets of Valium(Diazepam) to be taken the night before your dental visit, and you will receive 1-3 tablets of Halcion(Triazolam) and/or Atarax(Hydroxyzine) during your dental appointment to reduce anxiety and help you relax during the procedures.

Financial Options, Payment Options and Dental Insurance

Financial Options - Dental treatment is an excellent investment in an individual's medical and psychological well being. Financial considerations should not be an obstacle to obtaining this important health service. Being sensitive to the fact that people have different needs in fulfilling their financial obligations, we provide the following payment options:

Payment Options - Nobody likes to be surprised when it comes to costs. Our policy is to inform you what your investment will be prior to any treatment, and define financial arrangements with you before we begin. After your initial examination, we will review with you our recommended treatment plan and its projected cost. We ask only that you begin treatment within ninety days from the date of the treatment plan presentation, so we may honor the quoted fee.

To make getting a beautiful new smile as easy as possible, we offer several convenient payment methods. Our staff is available to discuss financial arrangements and help you select the method of payment that best meets your needs. To provide the highest quality care on a sound basis, we have developed a full range of convenient payment options from which to choose.

  • Payment in Full - A bookkeeping courtesy of 5% is given for direct payment in full by cash or check at the start of treatment.
  • Office Payment Plan - It is anticipated that treatment will take multiple visits. For your convenience, the treatment fees may be spread out and paid for according to the treatment plan with payments due at the time of each treatment procedure.
  • Care Credit - An outside financing company, Care Credit offers a credit card for health care costs. Interest-free payment plans up to 12 months with low monthly payments. Applications available in the office.
  • Credit Card - We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Dental Insurance - Half of our patients do have dental insurance, and many of the policies differ in their requirements. To simplify this process, we've adopted the following procedure: For routine dental care we ask that you pay your portion at the time of treatment, and we'll submit your insurance claim to your provider.

Please note that your insurance policy is a contract between you and your insurance company. We will be happy to assist you in completing and submitting copies of your insurance paperwork to your insurance provider. At your first visit, please bring your insurance card so we may enter the appropriate information into your computerized patient file.
